Most of Thailand is beautiful with great beaches, lakes and waterfalls.
The Land of Smiles is inhabited by friendly and happy people.
Go to the beaches where the Thai people go.
Don't go to the beaches where the tourists are.
There everybody swims in very brief bikini's, tangers and golden chains.
They probably get sunburned and stung by jellyfish.
The local Thai custom is to swim in clothes
and you do well to respect that and join them.
They also find people with pale skin very attractive, so don't go out and get a tan.
Exposing too much of your skin will not only earn you a sunburn,
but is also frowned at by the locals.
Not matter how hot is is, gentlemen should wear long trousers.
For ladies, pants are also acceptable,
or you can wear a skirt or a dress that covers the knee.
Sleeveless shirts or sweaters should be avoided.
Songkran - New Year Festival
The Songkran Festival each April is
the biggest event in the Thai calendar when people get soaking wet.
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
Suvarnabhumi Airport (Thai: ท่าอากาศยานสุวรรณภูมิ, pronounced [sùwannápʰūːm]) (IATA: BKK, ICAO: VTBS) (meaning 'Golden Land' in Sanskrit), also known as (New) Bangkok International Airport, is an international airport serving Bangkok, Thailand. It was officially opened for limited domestic flight service on 15 September 2006, and opened for most domestic and all international commercial flights on 28 September.[3] The airport is currently the main hub for Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Orient Thai Airlines, Thai AirAsia and will be a hub for the new Thai Tiger Airways.
The airport is located in Racha Thewa in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan Province, about 25 kilometres (16 mi) east of downtown Bangkok. The name Suvarnabhumi was chosen by King Bhumibol Adulyadej and refers to the golden kingdom hypothesised to have been located somewhere in Southeast Asia.
Designed by Helmut Jahn of Murphy/Jahn Architects, the airport has the world's tallest control tower (132.2 metres / 434 feet), and the world's third largest single-building airport terminal (563,000 square metres / 6,060,000 square feet). Suvarnabhumi is the 5th busiest airport in Asia, having handled 42.7 million passengers in 2010, and is also a major air cargo hub. The airport inherited the airport code BKK from Don Mueang after the older airport ceased international commercial flights. A modern motorway no.7 connects the airport, Bangkok, and the heavily industrial Eastern Seaboard of Thailand, where most of the manufacturing for export takes place.
